FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER – MISHA FINE ART
What is your favorite time of day to shoot portraits and landscapes?
My favorite time to shoot is at golden hour.
What is your favorite food or treat?
I really like Japanese cuisine. It’s the most delicious food I have ever tasted.
What music do you listen to when you edit images?
I really like rock’n roll. It is a source of inspiration for me. I currently listen to bands like Alcest, Anathema, Agalloch.
If you could only pick one camera, which one is your favorite and why?
I use cameras by Canon and Nikon. For 6 years I used Canon only. I like the system and the way everything looks professional. But today I fell in love with the Nikon D750. It is a great camera with extraordinary features that brings a different color and a great combination with the Petzval 85 that I currently use.
What is your favorite photo? Why?
I photograph many children, and I do have a favorite. It is a photo of a redhead girl but it reminds me of a painting from the time of Romanticism.
What is your favorite pair of shoes/boots?
I have with me a pair of shoes that I have been wearing for almost 8 years, it’s a pair of Allstar Chucks. I can tell you that these shoes are very old, but I like them.
What is the best advice someone has ever given you?
Follow your dream. No matter what they think about it. To believe in your work, without ever looking back and moving on.
What or who inspires you?
Lomography inspires me.
What is your favorite non-photography item in your home or office and why?
It’s my TV where I watch my favorite movies.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, your education, anything you would like to share with us.
I was raised in a not very large family. I have two brothers who followed different paths in career choices. I went to University but I did not graduate. I gave up in time to find myself in photography. I am self-taught in photography and to this day I have not stopped learning. I have had different jobs, I had a good position in a company, but I knew that I was not happy and in photography I live a simpler life, but I am more satisfied that way.
Where do you go or what do you do when you need to be refreshed from daily life or creative burnout?
I always go to the beach to refresh myself. But I live downtown. So, most of the time, I love having a shower where I recharge all my energy. Or I’ll go outside and have a good coffee.
Tell us about your favorite road trip
My favorite trip? I am still working on it, but it will be a big step in my life. A new direction.
How do you balance home life, and your business?
I try to separate everything. A time for work, another for family and leisure, I know it’s difficult to reconcile everything, so when I’m not photographing, I avoid carrying a camera with me.
